Tuesday March 17, 2015
Columbia Center for the Arts
Gorge Innoventure is pleased to announce Recipes for Success, a summit of food industry leaders who will share their knowledge with aspiring Gorge entrepreneurs and value-added food producers. The event is the first of a recurring series of Gorge Summits put on by Gorge Innoventure around emerging industries. The summit will take place at Columbia Center for the Arts.
This event is in partnership with OSU’s Portland-based Food Innovation Center. Keynote speakers are:
Chris Tjersland, Brand Development Manager – New Seasons Markets
Ron Tanner, President – Specialty Foods Association
Seth Tibbot – Turtle Island Foods
The primary take away from the event will be the Recipe Book that will include valuable contacts and information for moving your company forward.
The summit won’t be short on inspiration featuring a morning panel on “Commercializing Your Product” presented by a well-known recipe developer, a co-packer and the SBDC. An afternoon panel on “Finding Money” will feature New Market Tax Credit funder Stonehenge Capital, the USDA, Community Bank and Mid-Columbia Economic Development District – all of whom are currently lending money in the Gorge. Recipes for Success will explore stages of the food enterprise process including idea formulization, R&D, product commercialization, capital sourcing and perhaps most importantly, how to sell into the retail market.
“The Gorge is a great food business launching ground, and we’re putting together a high level summit to bring food entrepreneurs a lot of the information they need to launch or grow their business,”says Gorge Innoventure board member and startup expert Gary Rains. “This is the first of a series of business summits that will match resources and expertise from industry players with startups and successful local businesses, to find the next great products for the Gorge,” added Dave Scarborough, Gorge Innoventure board president and business consultant.
